Rehearsals underway for The Rainmaker

OK, it doesn’t look like much in this pic, but you’re looking at the very beginnings of a magic process that will ultimately lead to the opening night of N. Richard Nash’s classic romantic comedy The Rainmaker on Friday, March 28th!

This beautiful play, set simply “in a time of drought” was first seen on Broadway in 1954, and has since been translated into more than 40 languages and seen thousands of productions – including the well-loved film starring Burt Lancaster and Katherine Hepburn.

The Rainmaker tells the story of the Curry Family, doing their best to survive an epic drought that is threatening their herd and their way of life, and the only daughter Lizzie, a “plain” young woman who yearns for romance in a harsh world.  Over the course of “one hot night” a stranger whose life is built on dreams changes all their lives – and even his own.

The cast for The Rainmaker includes R Sheldon (Barefoot In the Park) Boyce as patriarch H.C. Curry; Michael (Do Not Go Gentle) Stanard as oldest son, Noah; Devon (Measure for Measure) Van der Veer as youngest son, Jimmy; Heather (Two Left Feet) Cunningham as Lizzie; with Rob (M*A*S*H) Ward as File and Paul (Wizard of Oz) Stafford as The Sheriff; and in the role of Starbuck, Mitch (A Christmas Carol) MitchellJeffrey Brown is the director, and newcomer Miranda Palomo joins the group as Stage Manager.

You can see The Rainmaker beginning Friday, March 28th and running through April 13th, Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30, with two Sunday Matinees – on April 6 and 13 – at 2:30.  Tickets are just $20, and we recommend advance reservations.  Get them by clicking HERE or by calling (830) 896-9393.

See you there!
