Playhouse 2000 Throws Final “Preview Party” Before Trip to National Festival

The Kerrville community is invited to a combined “bon voyage” and preview party for the cast and crew of Playhouse 2000’s “The Pretty Trap” on Saturday, June 15th at 3:00 in The Cailloux Theater, just two days before the company leaves for this year’s National one-act-play festival.

Playhouse 2000’s entry in the biennial AACT/Fest cycle, a little-know short play by Tennessee Williams earned the right to represent a five-state region at the National Festival by advancing one of four “Quad Festivals” held across Texas, the State Festival in Baytown, called TEX Fest, and the Region VI Festival in Midland, Texas in May.

The American Association of Community Theatres’ AACTFest – the festival process that culminates in a national theatre festival – is held in odd-numbered years. AACTFest presents a forum for more than 350 community theatres from AACT’s 10 regions to enter productions for adjudication and advancement from the state level to the regional level and finally, to the national level.

From the twelve plays presented at TEX Fest, two were selected to advance to the regional festival and represent Texas alongside plays from Oklahoma, Louisiana, Arizona, and New Mexico.  At that festival, Playhouse 2000 was chosen from the ten participants to advance to the final level.

Playhouse 2000’s ensemble of four actors, two technicians, one stage manager and their Director will travel to Gettysburg, Pennsylvania for the prestigious AACTFest 2019, America’s national Community Theatre Festival, on June 17th.

The group will get a well-deserved send-off with a party on Saturday, June 15th at 3:00 in The Cailloux Theater.  Guests will enjoy pre-show hors-d’oeuvres and wine, a preview of the award-winning performance, and the chance to spend some quality time with the cast and crew.

Admission to the party is available for just $25 per person (or in exchange for any contribution in excess of $25) which will be used to help fund the significant costs of traveling to this event.

Contributions in support of the trip from those who cannot attend the party are gratefully accepted.  Checks made out to Playhouse 2000 can be mailed to the attention of Amy Goodyear, Office Manager, at P.O. Box 290088, Kerrville, 78029.

Playhouse 2000 is proud to be Kerrville’s Community Theater, offering opportunities to participate in the art of theater to hundreds of volunteers each year.  More information is available at www.playhouse2000.com.
