Youth Theater Program Selected for Charity Ball

September 23 – Your Playhouse 2000 is very excited to confirm that our Youth Programming has been named the beneficiary of next years Hill Country Charity Ball.  The ball’s Association met last month to consider their options and recently announced their decision.

What this means is that the May 3, 2014 Charity Ball will be raising money for P2k’s programming aimed at young people in our area.  There are two specific programs that will benefit: the Young People’s Performances Series, and our new Youth Theater Program.

The Young People’s Performances Series brings outstanding, national-caliber events to Kerrville, and offers them in The Cailloux Theater for area school children at no cost to student or school (private schools in the area pay a small admission fee if they are able.)

Last year’s YPPS presented The Houston Grand Opera, New York’s TheaterWorks USA, and Austin-based Blue Lapis Light aerial dance company.  This year, we are very excited to present internationally-renowned “Intergalactic Nemesis” and their live-action graphic novel “Target Earth” (see more on this below.)  This will be followed by Ballet Austin’s presentation of “Peter and the Wolf,” plus a third program to be announced soon.

Our Youth Theater Program is deep into rehearsal for Alice@Wonderland, a modern take on the classic fairy tale, which will run the weekend of October 18, 19 and 20.  Along with Alice, which will be presented by our oldest students, the youngest will present a dramatization of Where the Wild Things Are.

Proceeds from the Charity Ball will allow these two brand new programs to move forward on a solid footing, and we appreciate the Hill Country Charity Ball Association’s support of our efforts.

We hope you’ll make plans now to attend the Ball on Saturday, May 3rd, 2014 and to support the good work of the HCCBA in this and every year.
