Happily Ever Laughter Opens Friday

A great group of volunteers have been working very hard to bring you a wonderful new Romantic Comedy to open the 2014 Playhouse 2000 Season. It’s called Happily Ever Laughter, and it was written by Canadian playwright Neville J. Bryant.

In the play, we meet Joanna Winslow, a young woman who has finally taken the step of moving out on her own. In her mother’s eyes, the apartment she’s chosen is “a dump,” but Joanna likes her new-found independence and is looking forward to setting up her own place.

On her 2nd night living alone, though, Joanna is surprised to find her across-the-hall neighbor, Brad Daniels, in her living room wearing nothing but a towel! How he got there and how things turn out are part of the fun, so I won’t go any further into the story – you’ll want to see it for yourself.

Joanna is played by Amanda (Freudian Slip) Radkiewicz, and Brad by Tony (Measure for Measure) Farmer. Longtime P2K veterans Tom Terrell and Jim Boman portray the building Superintendent Mr. Galetti and Joanna’s father, Charles, respectively. Two new faces for P2K are Judy Wheatley in the role of Joanna’s Mother, Martha and David Pryor as “Whats-his-Name” – Joanna’s current fiance.

The scenic design comes from guest artist Nicholas Janysek, with Technical Direction and Lighting Design by Nick Boland and Scenic Paint and Set Dressing by Tish Miller. Danny Sanchez provided Music Tracks, and Kerri Sparkman does double duty as Stage Manager and Sound Effects Designer. Jim Boman and Judy Wheatley worked together to coordinate costumes.

We’re very excited that Happily Ever Laughter will be the first play to use the new Seating Risers in the VK Garage Theater, made possible by a grant from the Economic Improvement Corporation of Kerrville. The new seating is much more substantial than our earlier, wooden-built risers, and makes the VK look very “theatrical”.

See Happily Ever Laughter beginning Friday, January 31 at 7:30, and running Fridays and Saturdays at that same time through February 16. There are two Sunday Matinees – on February 9 and 16 – at 2:30. Tickets are just $20, and we recommend advance reservations. Get them by clicking HERE or by calling (830) 896-9393.

See you there!
