P2K Youth present Little Women this Weekend

Playhouse 2000 Youth Theater Program presents the beloved American classic LITTLE WOMEN Friday and Saturday, March 2 and 3 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, March 4 at 2:30 p.m. in the VK Garage Theater. Tickets are $10 for adults and $7 for children and reservations are recommended. Come out and support these talented young people!

Next On Stage: P2K Youth Theater Dorothy in Wonderland with The Lorax

P2K’s youngest actors will get a chance to show their stuff in the next production on the VK Garage Stage.
First, the Pre-K through First Graders will act out the beloved book by Dr. Seuss, The Lorax, which relates the story of an odd little creature who “speaks for the trees.”  It’s a touching little tale for all to enjoy. 
 

 

Then, the 8- to 13-year-olds will fill up the VK Garage stage with a fantastic tale that merges The Wizard of Oz with Alice in Wonderland called Dorothy in Wonderland.  It features a long list of your favorite characters, including Toto, Scarecrow, Lion, Tin Man, Glinda, The Wizard, The White Rabbit, Humpty Dumpty, Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum, the Mad Hatter and March Hare, the Queen of Hearts and many more.
 
Performances are Friday, November 17 and Saturday, November 18 at 7:30, and Sunday, November 19 at 2:30 in the VK Garage Theater. Tickets are just $5 for children and $7.50 for adults We recommend advance reservations, which you can get by calling (830 896-9393 or by clicking HERE.  As long as they last, ticket will also be available at the door.

Next Up, a Show for K through 8th Graders

P2K’s Youth Director Sarah Distel has announced Open Auditions for the next project in the P2K Youth Theater Program.  Join us and get on stage with Playhouse 2000!

We’re looking for actors for Brian D. Taylor’s mashup Dorothy In Wonderland, which will be performed by young people in grades 3 through 8, and Dr. Seuss’s The Lorax, which will feature our youngest performers – grads K through 2.

Auditions will be held on Saturday, September 2 at 1:00 in the Studio of the Kit Werlein Annex.
No advance preparation is necessary.

Youth Summer Musical Theater Camp’s Cinderella

Congratulations to the cast, crew, musicians, technicians and staff of the P2K Youth Summer Musical Theater Camp on their presentation of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella on July 28, 29 and 30.  More than 500 guests enjoyed an outstanding production featuring the talents of nearly sixty students from four to fourteen years old.

Please know that all of the children were very brave and very well prepared for auditions today. I could not have been more moved or more proud. They are true artists and wonderful friends to each other and I have grown to care so much for so many of them. Today I made some kiddos really happy and I made some of them really bummed and I feel the highs and lows with them so keenly. They are all miraculous and they are all growing so much on both their theater journey but also in their greater journey towards the people they are becoming. It my deepest pleasure to watch them and know them.

Youth Theater to present Peter Pan

The Playhouse 2000 Youth Theater presents Peter Pan with Pete the Cat

P2K’s talented young actors present two classics from literature.  First, our very youngest performers re-create the childhood favorite Pete the Cat, then the Youth Theater turns the Cailloux stage to “Neverland” with J.M. Barrie’s perennial favorite story about the boy who won’t grow up, Peter Pan.
