Bus Riley Earns Awards at AACT Regionals

Named “First Alternate” at the Region VI AACTFest

“An Evening with William Inge’s Bus Riley”

As we told you in the last eBlast – your P2K was honored with an invitation to advance our one-act-play to the Region VI AACTFest in Albuquerque last week.  As far as we know, we’re the only company in this part of Texas to have ever earned this distinction, and we were very proud to represent Texas, and The Hill Country in particular, in this festival, which featured the very best presentations from Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Louisiana, and Arkansas.

Amid a very strong festival, your P2K earned a variety of very high honors:

  • The Backstage Award
  • Outstanding Ensemble
  • Three “All Star Cast” nods: for Amy Goodyear as “Jackie,” Michele VanFossen as “Bernice,” and Michael Stanard as “Harry” – and
  • First Alternate to the National Festival.

This outstanding success could not have been achieved without the tireless efforts of the cast and crew.  Nor could it have happened at all without the support of all of you friends of P2K.

We are very excited by the success of the other Texas Theater, the Katy Visual and Performing Arts Center, whose production of On the Road with Hank the Horse earned Second Alternate honors.  And, of course, we wish the best of luck to the Lantern Theater of Conway, Arkansas and their production of God of Carnage which earned the right to travel to the National AACTFest in Grand Rapids, Michigan this summer.

Special Thanks to the KiMo theater and Theatre New Mexico for being great hosts.  We enjoyed our time in Albuquerque!
