Auditions for A Christmas Carol Coming Soon

The final production in Playhouse 2000’s 15th Anniversary Season is a highly theatrical adaptation of Charles Dickens’ classic ghost story A Christmas Carol.  It’ll be seen on the VK Garage stage December 6 though 21.

The unique staging by Christopher Schario calls for six actors and one musician who create all of the classic characters we know and love: Scrooge, Cratchitt, Nephew Fred, Jacob Marley and all the rest.  All of the sound effects in the show are created live, and the characters change before our very eyes!  It’s a wonderful opportunity for actors to display their versatility and skill.  The show will be directed by Jeffrey Brown.

Available roles include:

Ebeneezer Scrooge – the only single-character role in the show.  We all know the old skinflint, so no further description is needed here.

Actor #1 – the young man, who plays our only modern character, and assumes the roles of Dick Wilkins, Tiny Tim and The Turkey Boy, among others.

Actor #2 – portrays Bob Cratchitt, Marley’s Ghost, Fezziwig and more.

Actor #3 – portrays Fred, Christmas Present and Peter Cratchitt.

Actor #4 – assumes the roles of Fan, Mrs. Fezziwig, Belle, Marth and more.

Actor #5 – takes on Christmas Past, Mrs. Cratchitt, a Charwoman and more.

The Musician – the script calls for a fiddler (who must actually play and improvise) but other instruments could also work.

AUDITIONS will be held at the VK Garage Theater on Sunday, October 20th at 2:30, and Monday, October 21st at 6:30 (pick one.)  We will do readings and theater “games” – no advance preparation is necessary.  Perusal Scripts are available for checkout at the Cailloux Box Office or at the VK Garage Office, but must be returned promptly.
