2018 Season Announced

Welcome to the twentieth season of outstanding plays and musicals presented by and for the good people of Kerrville and the surrounding Hill Country.

We’re proud to have been your Community Theater since 1998, when we began performing plays for children, soon to set up shop in the “Interim Theater” on Myrta Street.  Since then, we’ve presented more than 140 productions, all of them created through the talent and dedication of your friends and neighbors.

Jeeves Takes A Bow

A new comedy by Margaret Raether

February 2-18, 2018, VK Garage Theater

Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m., Sunday February 11 and 18 at 2:30 p.m.

Based on the hilarious characters created by by P.G. Wodehouse, Jeeves Takes a Bow follows very British Bertie Wooster and his ever valiant valet, Jeeves, to New York, where he meets a Broadway chorus girl, is menaced by a real, honest-to-goodness mobster, loses his identity, and is threatened with marriage!  Jeeves jumps to the rescue once again, with enough plot twists to leave you tied up in knots, but with a song in your heart and a smile on your face.

Crazy For You

April 6-21, 2018 – Cailloux Theater

Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m., Sunday, April 15 at 2:30 p.m.

In a brand new partnership, Playhouse 2000 and the Music and Theater departments of Schreiner University will join forces to present an award-winning, updated tribute to the music of George and Ira Gershwin featuring all of the hits from their classic songbook.  With singing, dancing and a comic script by Ken Ludwig, this will be a show to share with the whole family.

Impossible Marriage

A Modern Comedy by Beth Henley

June 15 – July 1, 2018 – VK Garage Theater

Twenty years ago, just about the same time as Doug and Susan Balentine were founding Playhouse 2000, Texas native and Pulitzer Prize winning playwright Beth Henley premiered a modern take on Drawing Room Comedy – the type made famous by Wilde and Coward.  The result is a 21st-Century comedy of manners that explores of the foibles of modern marriage among the polite class.  It’s sophisticated comedy for a smart audience.

The Glitter Girls

A New Southern Comedy by Mark Dunn

August 17 – September 2, 2018 – VK Garage Theater

Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m., Sunday August 26 and Sept 2 at 2:30 p.m.

Playwright Mark Dunn, creator of the popular comedy Five Tellers Dancing in the Rain, has penned a brand new Southern Comedy that he describes as “Steel Magnolias meets Survivor.”  The women of The Glitter Girls club are about to inherit a boatload of money – or at least one of them will.  It’s up to them to decide among themselves who the lucky girl (or guy) will be.  Laughs will fill the air all night long – you should be here!

A Thriller by Agatha Christie

October 19 – November 4, 2018 – VK Garage Theater

Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m., Sunday October 28 and Nov 4 at 2:30 p.m.

In one of her best known thrillers, Mrs. Christie creates a courtroom drama in which a possibly innocent man’s life hangs in the balance – a balance that’s upended by a mysterious woman with a scarred face.  Even when you think you’ve got it figured out, there are plot twists still to be unraveled.  A masterpiece of tension, misdirection and ultimate justice that even the real courts could not provide.
