2015-16 Youth Theater Season Begins!

As we all get ready to move into the school year and our kids start another adventure on their journey to independence and adulthood, we at Playhouse 2000 are gearing up for a very exciting season.  We have a lot going on here at the theater and our youth initiative is GROWING all the time!    We are breaking ground on a new building on our campus that will allow us to implement so many exciting program ideas for our youth.  We have 4 shows for young people to become involved in this year; our usual line-up of projects throughout the school year and a brand new youth musical set to take place in summer 2016!  We will kick off this exciting season on August 29 at 1:00 in the VK Garage Theater with an audition workshop for our first title, Outrageous Fortune with The Very Hungry Caterpillar.

This show offers opportunities for our youngest actors (Pre-k through Grade 2) to dramatize the beloved favorite by Eric Carle.  Our older students (Grades 3-7) will have the chance to be involved in all aspects of production with Outrageous Fortune, a comedy about some of William Shakespeare’s tragedy characters.  Older students (grades 8-12) have the opportunity to assist with stage management, design, costumes, and as general interns.

Those cast in The Very Hungry Caterpillar will meet on Monday afternoons at 4:30 for an hour.  Outrageous Fortune cast members will rehearse Tuesdays through Thursdays at 3:45.  Older students that are part of the production team will meet Friday afternoons at 3:45 for a production meeting.

Auditions are simple, but it is important to be there.  Students need not prepare anything, but please do bring a list of conflicts that happen during the rehearsal period.

We can’t wait to get started!!
